Account Manager Digital Media and Science Communication (100%)

Location: Stonehouse, UK – Hybrid. To be considered for this role, candidates must be based in the UK and be able to commute to the office at least once a week. 

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £32,000.00-£42,000.00 per year

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Account Manager to join our Karger office in the Cotswolds.

The purpose of the role is to drive business development for Karger's Healthcare portfolio of medical education, publication and science outreach services, focusing on clients from the pharmaceutical industry.

As an integral part of the Partnership Team, the Account Manager will be responsible for nurturing and expanding relationships with our returning clients, spearheading new business opportunities, and ensuring projects are adhering to agreed project specifications.

The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player with a flair for engaging current clients and networking with potential leads.


Key Responsibilities:

Account Management

  • Act as the main point of contact for assigned key customers and ensure high standards of communication are always maintained.
  • Retain and grow accounts in the healthcare area (pharma, biotechnology, medtech, hospitals and societies).

Client Relationship Management:

  • Foster strong relationships with returning clients to secure ongoing and future projects.
  • Conduct regular check-ins and account reviews to ensure client satisfaction and address any concerns promptly.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and tailor services that add value to their business.

Business Development:

  • Proactively seek out new business opportunities within the healthcare market to expand the client base.
  • Identify and engage with leads using various techniques, such as but not limited to: LinkedIn search, online meetings, regular attendance to key medical conferences (primarily in Europe), virtual and live networking events and client visits.
  • Develop and implement strategies for re-engaging clients with projects on hold, facilitating project resumption and completion.
  • Prepare and present proposals and tenders, aligning offerings with client requirements and business objectives.
  • Ensure accurate recording of your own leads and opportunities in the Karger CRM system (currently Salesforce).

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other internal teams to coordinate on project delivery, ensuring a seamless client experience.
  • Share insights and feedback from clients to inform product development and service improvement.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive solutions that enhance the company's market standing.
  • Assist in the creation of marketing campaigns and materials targeted at existing and potential clients.
  • Contribute to the development of case studies and success stories that demonstrate the company's impact and expertise.

Performance Tracking:

  • Monitor and report on sales targets, providing regular updates to leadership on progress and challenges.

Qualifications and experience required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Science, Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as an Account Manager, Business Development Manager or Project Manager within publishing corporate sales, medical education, pharmaceutical marketing or medical communications agency environment supporting clients from the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to create compelling proposals and presentations.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Financial acumen and the ability to cost and budget.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with clients of diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in CRM software, Project Management and Microsoft Office Suite.
